HOPKINSVILLE, Kent. – Columbia 300 staffer, Wes Malott, took his third career win this weekend at the Lumber Liquidators Earl Anthony Medford Classic. Malott defeated the Tour’s stand-out rookie, Rhino Page, 255-193, in the final match using the Rival.
“Wes showed in everyway on Sunday what a true professional he is,” said Chad Murphy, Columbia 300 brand manager. “He made the right adjustment at the right time; switching from a ball (Resurgence) that rolled great the first game to one (Rival) that was perfect for the title match. Having the guts to make that type of move is why he is a great champion. This type of move and the way he handled himself is exactly why he’s a perfect fit for our brand. I couldn’t be happier for him.”
Malott, the only right-hander in the finals, struck 17 of 22 frames in his two matches (first against Parker Bohn III using the Resurgence and then Page for the win) and solidified his pursuit for Player of the Year. He took home $25,000 and an exemption for next season with his win.
Malott is in his third year as a Columbia 300 staff member and his sixth year on Tour. He hails from Argyle, Texas, and is most notably recognized for his 05-06 breakthrough season when he set career highs in earnings, championship round appearances, match play appearances, cashes and points. He and his wife, Maryiedth, have two sons.

COLUMBIA 300’S RIVAL HAS NO COMPETITION

HOPKINSVILLE, Kent. – When it comes to the greatest sports rivalries, you won’t find one with Columbia 300’s new Rival. Why? Because it has no competition.
“The Rival is a benchmark ball for Columbia 300 line,” said brand manager, Chad Murphy. “On medium to heavy oil, this ball picks up the middle of the lane and never quits. I fully expect Rival to be the talk of the season.”
The Rival supports a new veneer to the Columbia family appropriately called ‘300.’ This shell, combined with a new ‘Spinner’ core, will provide dependable ball reaction for most bowlers on any house condition. This ball will slow down through the middle of the lane and offers a nice clean arc all the way through the pin deck. In a three-color combination, Blue/Steel/Yellow, Rival is available in 12 – 16 pounds.
